Climb aboard the spaceship.

We’re going to the moon.

We read What Is In Space? This is a great non fiction story that introduces all the things you see in the sky and solar system!


 



 

We compare/contrast the Earth and the moon with a Venn Diagram!
 

 



 



 

We make constellations. I had the students tape the constellation below to a piece of black construction paper. Students used a tack to poke through the stars! When they held their constellation up to the light...they could see the Big Dipper!

pasta at our local grocery store.

Students build words on the moon using overhead alphabet letter tiles! I have a pocket chart with space words in this center so students can use the chart as a reference point in spelling space words! The students have a GREAT time at this center!

I Know All Nine Planets!

I know all the planets in our solar system.
Listen to me sing them in order one by one.
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

We discuss all the different things we see in our solar system! We make telescopes out of construction paper! We take our telescopes outside to observe what we see in the sky! 



 

We make Planet Earth to eat!


We make moon rocks at the Art Center! Students paint small rocks with paint and then sprinkle glitter on the wet paint! SO FUN!
We talk about the phases of the moon! Students paint a moon with a balloon!

We use Oreos to make different phases of the moon.
